What is the main goal of the European Data Protection Association?
To unite EU citizens and residents with the common goal of protecting a human right, which is the right to privacy.
Are you a government entity?
No, we are a private self-regulatory association created in Italy as permitted by Articles 36 to 38, Italian Civil Code.
Do you enforce privacy in Europe?
No, we are not a government entity or enforcement agency. Our statutes indicate that we must help our associates/members with their data protection complaints and that we must also act as a private watchdog to detect any privacy non-compliance that could potentially harm our members. For these goals we always direct to the appropriate DPAs (Data Protection Authorities) in each EU country.
Do you also offer services and help to controllers and processors of EU personal data?
Absolutely! Any controller or processor anywhere in the world may also become a member of our association and gain access to courses, orientation and other member services.
Do you offer members legal help in case of privacy violations?
We offer legal representation of our members teaming-up always with our network of data protection lawyers in several European countries.
How may I join the European Data Protection Association?
Absolutely! You may join as a data subject or as a controller/processor by using our online form available in our website.
